The Origin

Before the Division had a name, before there were protocols, before the ore had a designation. There was this. A compressed document. Three tracks. Evidence that something had been found in the lab, that it was producing signal, and that the researchers had decided to keep working before telling anyone.

TOP SECRET is the founding document of the Audio Anomaly Division: the record of how the ore was acquired, what the first experiments looked like, and how quickly the situation escalated. The mix is rough. The edges are exposed. The researchers were moving fast and not asking permission.

Everything that follows is a consequence of what began here.

Production

Experiment I sounds like exactly what it is: something made in a basement before anyone knew what they were building. Recorded by the researchers themselves, in whatever space was available, performing every instrument between them. No polish, no distance. The roughness is the document.

The bass is the defining element: Ibanez bass run through Darkglass distortion in a heavy slap style, aggressive and percussive. Underneath it, the grand piano provides harmonic weight, not as a classical instrument but as a tool, processed and weighted into the arrangement. The e-drums drive the tracks from beneath.

The alto saxophone weaves through, adding the melodic layer that would become the Division's sonic signature across all subsequent experiments. The interplay between saxophone and bass is already established here.

HAZMAT! (Track 3) is the outlier: the only EMMO ENNO track to feature a guest artist. Atlanta rapper Drizzy Hanna contributes a verse, the first and so far only time the purely instrumental format gets broken. In-universe: the first indication that external parties were becoming aware of the Division's activities.

The effect is cinematic: funky on the surface, with something creeping underneath. Scientists making something in the dark before anyone could ask whether they should.
