M.O.N.O Industries (Making of Normal Objects) is a privately held research and development corporation specialising in applied sonic engineering, frequency-based material science, and a number of adjacent projects we are not currently at liberty to discuss. Our work is funded through a combination of private contracts, government-adjacent grants, and the commercial release of select findings to the general public.
Dr. Emmo and Dr. Enno lead the Audio Anomaly Division. Their combined credentials span an impressive and largely unverifiable range of disciplines. Side effects from commercial products are documented and considered part of the research process. Turning green is not currently classified as a medical emergency.
Signal confirmed. Not radio. Not terrestrial. Enno keeps calling it "the song." I've started calling it that too, which concerns me.
The ore responds to proximity. It responds to intention. It responds to the sax more than anything else. I have not put that in the official report.
We are documenting everything. I am also documenting the documentation. Something feels important about keeping a record that M.O.N.O doesn't have access to.
Experiment V is already happening. We just haven't decided to start it yet.

At 14:37 on the date of the fourth experiment, an anomalous frequency was detected emanating from sample U-238-MODIFIED, the ore acquired during Experiment I. Initial readings suggested simple harmonic resonance. They were not simple harmonic resonance.
Dr. Emmo noted that prolonged exposure produced a sensation described as "like wanting to listen to it again immediately and also possibly forever." This was flagged as a significant finding. Management was notified. Management asked for a copy.
The sample has since been processed into a distributable format. Public exposure is ongoing and intentional. M.O.N.O Industries assumes no liability for side effects, which may include: elevated mood, compulsive replay, and an unexplained interest in uranium mining.
Experiment IV remains the most significant discovery in the Audio Anomaly Division's history. Experiment V is expected to exceed it substantially.
DESIGNATION: SONIC ISOTOPE // COLLOQUIAL: "THE ORE"
CLASSIFICATION: UNCONTAINED · INTENTIONAL
DESCRIPTION: A mineral sample of unknown geological origin, approximately 2.3kg, exhibiting persistent acoustic emission across a frequency range outside standard instrumentation. Emissions follow rhythmic patterns inconsistent with natural radioactive decay. The sample appears to modulate its output in response to external sound input, particularly resonant frequencies produced by brass instruments.
DISCOVERY: Researchers report the sample was acquired through channels that are "hard to explain." Official procurement records list it as "misc. rock, lab B." Further inquiry has been discouraged by both parties.
WORKING THEORY: The ore is not emitting sound. It is receiving it. The signal originates from a source that has not been identified. Current hypothesis: the ore is functioning as an antenna tuned to frequencies that do not correspond to any known broadcast spectrum. The signal follows rhythmic, melodic structures. Dr. Enno has described it as "songs from somewhere else." This has not been included in the official report.
INCIDENT EXP-IV: During a scheduled session, Dr. Enno introduced saxophone tones in proximity to the sample. At 00:57 of the session recording, spectral readings exceeded all projected thresholds. A sonic fission event occurred. Energy output was described as "enormous" and "quite loud." Both researchers survived. The lab did not catch fire. This was considered a positive outcome.
POST-FUSION STATUS: The ore has not stopped emitting since the fusion event. Output levels have increased. The signal is now present in the commercial releases. M.O.N.O Industries considers this a distribution success.

INSTRUMENTATION: BASS, MULTI-INSTRUMENTAL // CLEARANCE: LEVEL 4
RECRUITMENT: Recruited following the [REDACTED] incident. Credentials span an impressive and largely unverifiable range of disciplines. Prior employment is listed in official records as, simply, "music." Reference checks were attempted. The references asked us not to call again.
FUNCTION: Subject designed the Division's documentation system, its backup system, and (per an audit we were not supposed to conduct) a third system stored at an address that does not appear in company records. When confronted, subject documented the confrontation.
PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION: Methodical to the point of concern. Subject documents everything, including this evaluation, which he is currently transcribing from memory. When asked why he keeps records M.O.N.O cannot access, subject responded: "So there's a version of events that's true." The evaluator did not have a follow-up question.
POST-FUSION OBSERVATION: Since the Experiment IV event, subject's bass frequencies have been observed synchronizing with the ore's emissions without his conscious input. He has been informed. He documented being informed. The synchronization has since improved.
STATUS: ACTIVE. EXPOSURE ONGOING. Subject is aware he is also a test subject. Subject has filed this fact under "acceptable."
DESIGNATION: DR. ENNO // LEAD RESEARCHER, BRASS RESONANCE & SONIC ENGINEERING
INSTRUMENTATION: SAXOPHONE // CLEARANCE: LEVEL 4
RECRUITMENT: Application consisted of a single saxophone recording, 4 minutes 9 seconds in length. The hiring committee reports they do not remember the interview, only that the decision was "correct." The recording has since been reclassified as a containment risk.
FUNCTION: Sonic engineering and direct anomaly interface. First researcher to make contact with the signal during Experiment IV. The incident report form includes a mandatory field: "Describe, in your own words, what that felt like." Subject returned the form blank. Subject has returned the form blank eleven times.
PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION: Results-oriented. Operates approximately one experiment ahead of the safety briefing. When asked to define an acceptable margin of safety, subject gestured toward the ore and said: "It likes the loud parts." This has been entered into the record as a technical finding, because it was one.
POST-FUSION OBSERVATION: Saxophone recordings made after the fusion event contain a second harmonic not present at the time of recording. Spectral analysis is ongoing. Subject has declined to call it an anomaly. Subject calls it "a collaboration."

OBJECTIVE: Having established that the sonic element produces compulsive replay behaviour in exposed subjects, Experiment V will investigate the upper limits of this effect through controlled media deployment. The hypothesis: with sufficient engineering, the signal can be made inescapable.
METHOD: Commercial-grade audio and visual content will be engineered using refined isotope frequencies as a carrier signal. Content will be distributed through existing public channels. Test subjects will not be informed of their participation. This is considered standard practice at M.O.N.O Industries.
PRELIMINARY FINDINGS: Subjects exposed to looped content report increased creativity, disrupted sleep, and an inability to explain why they keep listening. One subject described the experience as "like a song from somewhere I've never been." Dr. Enno became visibly emotional. This was documented.
